State Duma deputy Shamsael Saraliev filed a request to the Prosecutor General and the Investigative Committee with a request to verify the radio station "Echo of Moscow" and publicist Andrei Piontkovsky for propaganda of separatism. According to Izvestia, the reason was the publication of the Piontkovsky column on the Echo website. Under the requests of the deputy, the publication claims, 30 parliamentarians signed.

The column, entitled "Bomb, ready to explode" , appeared on the Echo website on January 23, the next day after the rally in Grozny in support of the head of the region, Ramzan Kadyrov. The article declares the need to recognize the independence of Chechnya.

Saraliev asks to verify this application for the corpus delicti under Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code "Public calls for the implementation of actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation."

"Echo of Moscow" continues to ignore the laws of the Russian Federation, openly and publicly discrediting the Chechen Republic, taking as a basis the ideological principles of terrorists. The false and provocative presentation of information on the Echo of Moscow Radio purposefully misleads the country's population, and is impressing people on the basis of interethnic confrontation, and causes fair indignation among Russian citizens, ”the parliamentarian’s request said.

The deputy’s statements were supported by colleagues in the lower house of parliament. Requests to the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee and Prosecutor General’s Office signed 30 deputies of all fractions, and a protocol order was also supported by the committees of Irina Yarovoy and Leonid Levin. According to Yarova, on Thursday she will send a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office to check the publication on the website of the Echo of Moscow radio station for the corpus delicti under Art. 280.1 of the Criminal Code.

“I believe that such calls are aimed at destroying the foundations of state security. This is an encroachment on the territorial integrity of the state. This kind of calls are made meaningfully. I completely and completely share the opinion of colleagues, that such a situation requires proper legal assessment and procedural conclusions,” Yarovaya said.

A few days earlier to appeal to the Prosecutor General and the TFR sent the Parliament of Chechnya. Deputies demand to open against Piontkovsky the case under articles 280 (public calls for extremism) and 282 of the Criminal Code (excitement of hatred or enmity), and “echo” to be held accountable under the media law.

In 2007, the Basmanny Interdistrict Prosecutor's Office of Moscow demanded that Piontkovsky’s articles were recognized as extremist, originally published in the “faces”, and then published on paper in the collection “The Unloved Country”. The trial took about a year and a half. Finally, on December 5, 2008, the prosecutor’s office withdrew her lawsuit from the Basmann district court, after the examination announced the absence of extremism in the texts of the publicist.

Meanwhile, in August 2007, the court in Krasnodar recognized the prosecutor’s warning to the local branch of Yabloko for the distribution of the “unloved country” and another collection of Piontkovsky articles - “For the Motherland! For Abramovich!” Fire! ”. The warning was made on the basis of a linguistic examination, which was carried out by the FSB.
