1841. Born Vasily Klyuchevsky

175 years ago, on January 28, 1841, the most prominent Russian historian, professor at Moscow University, academician Vasily Osipovich Klyuchevsky was born. Close to the Cadet Party (one of its leaders Pavel Milyukov was his student), Klyuchevsky participated in the work of the commission on the revision of the laws on the press and in meetings on the project of the institution of the State Duma and its powers. In 1906, he was elected a member of the State Council from the Academy of Sciences and Universities, but abandoned his post, because he did not consider membership in the State Council "quite independent for free ... discussing the issues of state life."
