The New Times magazine received a warning from Roskomnadzor for the Right Sector

Roskomnadzor issued a warning to The New Times magazine for the material “If only there was no war,” published in the January issue of the magazine (392). RBC reports this with reference to the editor-in-chief of The New Times, Evgenia Albats.

The material “If only there was no war” mentions the Ukrainian organization “Right Sector”, whose activities are prohibited in Russia by a decision of the Supreme Court. At the same time, the text does not mention a ban on the activities of the Right Sector.

“This is an obvious violation; we have warned the media many times how to write about banned organizations,” Roskomnadzor press secretary Vadim Ampelonsky told RBC. He clarified that the magazine would be fined for an administrative offense.

According to the law, if a media outlet receives two warnings within a year, its license may be revoked by court decision. According to Ampelonsky, The New Times magazine received its first warning for the calendar year.

As RBC notes, the magazine received a warning on February 1 - on the same day, The New Times website published material about Maria Vorontsova, whom the magazine calls the eldest daughter of President Vladimir Putin.
