The defendant in the case of the mayor of Yaroslavl Urlashov, who reported abuse of prisoners in a pre-trial detention center, was placed in a punishment cell

Former deputy mayor of Yaroslavl Evgeny Urlashov, one of the defendants in his criminal case Dmitry Donskov, was placed in a punishment cell on January 31 for violating the rules of detention in a pre-trial detention center, the Yarnovosti publication reports , citing his lawyer Valery Chistov. A few days before this, Donskov told the publication about the abuse of prisoners in the pre-trial detention center.

The lawyer believes that the grounds for placing Donskov in a punishment cell are far-fetched, since before January 31 he did not have a single reprimand. Then Donskova was given two reprimands on the same day: the first for reading a book after lights out, the second for finding a piece of paper with a telephone in his personal belongings, which was identified as “inter-chamber communication.”

“I regard this as clumsy pressure and revenge for the published open letter,” Chistov emphasized. Donskov himself wrote statements to the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office with a request to conduct an investigation.

Earlier, on January 26, the publication “Yarnovosti” published an open letter from Donskov, who reported on the abuse of prisoners in the pre-trial detention center. He said that until the end of 2015, the administration gave plates to prisoners only during food distribution - for breakfast, lunch and dinner - and then took them away. Several people spoke out against this, and for this they ended up in a punishment cell. Then, according to Donskov, the prisoners were driven through a line of special forces, who beat them with batons, then shaved their heads and put them back in a punishment cell. Donskov noted that in some punishment cells the window did not close, and the temperature outside at that time was about -20 degrees.
