The decision was made due to the fact that the virus spreads very quickly and has already managed to lead to thousands of cases of congenital defects in Brazil.
On February 1, a decree came into force in Brazil, according to which medical workers can enter any building to destroy mosquitoes that are the distributors of the virus.
According to official figures, now in Brazil more than half a million cases of infection with ZIK virus are registered. At the end of January, Denmark recorded the first virus infected, earlier the Zika virus was recorded in Sweden and Germany. Also, infection cases are registered in 27 countries of the world.
The Zika virus, which was first registered in Uganda in 1947, is not fatal, but there is no vaccine from it. WHO drew attention to the spread of fever in 2015, when in Brazil, where the virus epidemic erupted, a sharp increase in the birth rate of children with microcephaly was recorded.
