The number of permits for road transport with Turkey has been reduced by 4 times

The Russian Ministry of Transport, in connection with the decrease in cargo turnover between Russia and Turkey, proposed reducing the number of bilateral permits for road transport for each side by four times to 2000. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Transport.

“The indicated number of permits has already been sent to the Turkish Embassy in Moscow. This number can be increased within a year by agreement of the parties. In addition, the Russian side confirmed the possibility of Turkish carriers using ECMT (European Conference of Ministers of Transport) permits,” the statement says.

The Association of International Road Carriers (ASMAP) today announced that from February 1, transportation by Russian transport is actually prohibited in Turkey. Last year's permits expired on January 31, 2016, and the Turkish side did not agree on permits for 2016.

According to the Turkish side, total exports from Turkey in January fell by 14.4% to $9.208 billion, mainly due to supplies to Russia. Restrictive measures against Turkey were introduced on November 28, 2015 after a Turkish Air Force fighter shot down a Russian Su-24 bomber.
