
The US Treasury announced the expansion of the sanctions "Magnitsky List". According to Kommersant, the names of five Russians were additionally added to it, including the former deputy minister of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Alexei Anichin, the former head of the Department of the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Pavel Lapshov and two investigators - Boris Kibis and Oleg Urzhumtsev. Also, the surname Evgeny Antonov was included in the list, but it was not possible to find out his position.
The defendants of the Magnitsky List are prohibited from entering the territory of the United States, and their assets there, if found, are subject to blocking. US citizens are prohibited to carry out any transactions with the defendants in black lists.
According to Bloomberg, the “black list” was initially expanded on January 29, but US Secretary of State John Kerry, who had several additional questions, slowed down. The article says that Kerry intends to make efforts so that the new sanctions against Russian citizens allow Washington to maintain Moscow support in resolving the conflict in Syria.
In the spring of 2011, American senators Benjamin Cardin and John McCain demanded that Russian representatives involved in the Moscow Sailor Silence of the Hermitage Capital Foundation Sergei Magnitsky, who announced the identification of a large theft of state funds. In jail, he hit the charges of tax evasion. In May 2014, the US Treasury published an additional list of 12 persons, in December 2014, sanctions were introduced against 4 more people. In response to the actions of the United States in December 2014, President Vladimir Putin signed the Law of Dima Yakovlev, which establishes the ban on the adoption of Russian children by Americans.
