Rosfinnadzor and Rosgranitsa decided to abolish

Russian President Vladimir Putin supported Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's proposal to abolish Rosfinnadzor and Rosgranitsa.

Rosfinnadzor will be merged with the Federal Treasury, while the functions of currency control will be distributed between the tax service and customs. Medvedev said that in this way it would be possible "to reduce the state apparatus, which is useful in today's conditions."

The functions of Rosgranitsa (Federal Agency for the Development of the State Border) will be transferred to the Ministry of Transport.

• Rosfinnadzor was established in 2004, Rosgranitsa - in 2007.
• In connection with the crisis in Russia, the government had previously decided to cut budget spending by 10 percent in 2016. Ministries and departments were asked to independently determine the programs that will be cut or completely closed. If the reduction plan is not presented, the Ministry of Finance will independently cut spending on all items.
