Roskomnadzor said that he had achieved permission to remove the blocking from the feature film by Pavel Bardin "Russia 88". The corresponding application is published on the website of the department.
He explained the blocking of the film RKN with his duty to immediately fulfill the requests of the Prosecutor General. However, after "the law was fulfilled," the censorship department appealed to the Prosecutor General with a proposal to "adjust the decision of regional colleagues."
A fragment of “Russia 88”, torn from context, “spread on the Internet with the aim of promoting nationalist ideology,” explained his position of RKN. Meanwhile, "in general, the content of the film can be recognized as anti -fascist," and "therefore, the decision to block the full version of the film cannot be legitimate."
The Prosecutor General’s Office agreed with the arguments of the censors and canceled the decision to block the pages on which Russia 88 is fully placed. In turn, RKN restored access to these resources.
The blocking of pages with the film "Russia 88" and its fragments undertaken on January 28 became known earlier on Wednesday . The decision to block pages in VKontakte, as well as on YouTube and Yapfiles video hosting was issued on September 7, 2015 by Judge Naryan -Mar Country, Alexander Parfenov, in the suit of the deputy prosecutor of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (as of February 3, only one official - Alexander Popelukh).
As follows from the text of the solution, not the entire film as a whole is recognized as extremist, but only its individual episodes. This, in particular, is an episode known under the conditional name "Grandma and Skinhead" and "What is an ass?" ("Jewish occupation government." - Ed.). The press secretary of the RKN Vadim Ampelonsky noted in this connection: "The court recognized not the entire film extremist, but only its fragment, but we cannot block individual fragments."
The authors of the film were not involved in the process.
"Russia 88" was released in 2009. In the same year, she took part in a number of festivals. The picture received a special prize of the Fire Spirit in Khanty-Mansiysk and became the winner of the Cheboksary International Film Festival, and was also awarded the Nick Prize in the Opening of the Year category.
The creators of Russia 88 emphasized their rejection of fascism.
Despite this, the prosecutor of the Samara region in the same 2009 filed a lawsuit in the Samara district court with a request to recognize the film extremist. At the beginning of 2010, the lawsuit was withdrawn - as stated , at the request of the Prosecutor General.
Since 2012, Russian courts also prohibited separate fragments of Russia 88, including Grandmas and Skinhead. Nevertheless, there was no talk about blocking resources containing the film as a whole.
