In Thailand, in the southern province of Krabi, two Russian citizens received severe injuries as a result of an incident in the sea near the island of Pi-Pi, the newspaper Bangkok Post .

According to police, tourists aged 30 and 48 were injured by a motor boat, when they were engaged in snorkeling - swimming with an underwater mask. As a result of the incident, one of the victims lost his leg.

The emergency occurred on Wednesday morning at about 11:00 local time (07:00 in Moscow). A high -speed boat, transporting about 30 people, ran into the Russians who floated at sea. The ship moved towards the island when passengers felt a blow. Returning to the scene, they found two victims and delivered them ashore.

According to Bangkok Post, the diving instructor and his student were injured. Surgeons amputated the instructor with the right leg to the knee. The second victim has ragged wounds on his leg. It is reported that both Russians are in the hospital in critical condition.

An investigation is underway. The 27-year-old citizen of Thailand did not try to hide after the incident and now gives evidence. The man said that he had not seen floating people, and assured that he did not violate any rules of shipping. Meanwhile, the police stated that, by prior conclusion, he was to blame for the emergency, since in the area where the collision occurred, the movement of ships is prohibited.

As TASS reported at the Russian Embassy in Thailand, diplomats find out the circumstances of the incident. So far, information from the police did not enter the diplomatic mission. The PHI-PHI archipelago is located in the Andaman Sea and is particularly popular among diving lovers.
