The authorities of Iraq began building a concrete wall around Baghdad in order to fence off the capital from smuggling weapons and explosives used by militants in terrorist attacks, and attacks by terrorists of the Islamic State ( Daish ) forbidden in the Russian Federation. "The security barrier around Baghdad will not allow terrorists to get into the city and carry explosives or drive in a mined car to make attacks on civilians," one of the commanders of the capital's operational headquarters, General Abdel Amir Ash -Shamari, told reporters.

According to him, preparatory work began on Monday. Construction will be carried out from the Es Subeikhat area on the western outskirts. At the first stage, 100 km of fence will be erected by five engineering brigades. Entrances to the city will be equipped with special supplies.
