Air communication with the Republic of Mari El has been terminated, the Yoshkar-Ola airport has stopped working. Aircraft stopped flying due to the lack of a carrier ready to fly.
The Ministry of Industry, Transport and Roads of the Republic of Mari El told the Interfax news agency that at the end of 2015 the contract with the RusLine airline, which operated flights from Yoshkar-Ola to Moscow, expired. It was impossible to fly to another city from the capital of the republic.
RusLine refused to renew the contract. There were no other airlines willing to operate flights to the republic.
“We have announced a competition and allocated money from the budget, but carriers are in no hurry to participate in it. Perhaps they want to wait until spring, as full planes fly in spring, and no more than 10-12 people fly in winter, ”the Yoshkar-Ola airport said.
