The meeting will have an indirect influence on political processes, given that the church, both Catholic and Orthodox, affects the minds of believers. Moreover, this significant event takes place if not during the new Cold War, then against the backdrop of an exacerbated relationship between Russia and the West. Patriarch Kirill can act as a “softener of hearts” and try to reduce the degree of anti -Russian sentiments.

In parallel with a decrease in the degree of hatred, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church can increase its political, as well as a confessional weight inside.

Economic interest is also possible if it is, for example, about the possibility of opening new Orthodox parishes in the countries of Catholic influence.
