Does Twitter turn into Facebook?

Twitter on February 10 announced an important innovation - an algorithmically formed tweet tape. Contrary to fears, the service of microblogs does not turn into Facebook - it will not forcibly form a tape of posts according to a complex and unknown formula. "Medusa" tells what will change.

Twitter now - at will - will show the block of the most important records. This block, in fact, is similar to the experimental function “so far” (While You Were Away), an annoying selection of tweeters of many hours, which, according to Twitter, you should not skip. The block will be shown at the top of the main tape, and that, in turn, will still be formed chronologically.

The new procedure for forming a news feed is not like Facebook. Unlike the most popular social network, Twitter will show the notes of only those users whom you are Fullovite, and not all that will embroider the algorithm in the head. Records in the new block will be shown in the reverse chronological order and only if you have not checked Twitter for a long time. To fill the block will be a special algorithm, the task of which is to decide that you could skip interesting. To remove the block, it is enough to update the twitter tape-and everything will still be.

A selection of missed tweets can be disabled. If the “Until you” block appeared on Twitter with annoying regularity and did not turn off in any way (even if you answer that you don’t like the function and you don’t want to see it anymore), then an algorithmically formed selection can be turned off in the settings.

The new function is not yet available to everyone. You can enable the updated Twitter timeage mode during testing in the settings at the "Account" point, but so far only a small number of users have such an opportunity. Over time, anyone can turn it on, and then, as the Twitter blog says , a selection of missed tweets will be shown to all users, except for those who themselves climbed in the settings and turned off this mode.
