
The materials in the case of the defendants of the "Oboronservice" of Ekaterina Smetanova were returned to the prosecutor's office to "eliminate the obstacles of his court hearing." According to TASS, this was announced by the press secretary of the Presnensky court of Moscow Nina Yurkova.
Smetanova previously concluded a deal with justice and is under state protection. She is accused of articles about commercial bribery and fraud (part 3 of article 204 and part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code). According to the investigation, Smetanova participated in a number of corruption schemes related to the sale of real estate of the Ministry of Defense at a low value. For assistance in the implementation of the released real estate, she systematically received illegal monetary reward through an intermediary.
Smetanova signed a pre -trial agreement on cooperation and was released on a recognizance not to leave, actively cooperated with the investigation, pleaded guilty and gave detailed testimonies, exposing other accomplices, the court said.
On May 8, 2015, the Presnensky court of Moscow sentenced five defendants in the Oboronservis case to punishment from 3.5 to 5 years in prison in a general regime colony. The ex -head of the Department of Property Relations of the Ministry of Defense Evgeny Vasiliev, the former heads of joint -stock companies "Trade of the Moscow Military District" - Maxim Zakutayilo (Smetanova’s husband), Oponhtanstroy and the Main Directorate of the Arms Arrangement - Larisa Egorin, ex -gender of the company Khors and LLC RNICS Plus, and LLC, Irina Egorova and LLC, were convicted. Ex-General Director of OJSC "31st State Institute of Special Construction" Yuri Grekhnev.
According to the court verdict, the amount of damage, which initially amounted to 3 billion rubles, was reduced to almost 647 million rubles, since 2.2 billion rubles were returned to the state by the investigation before the start of the trial. The total amount of civil lawsuits against the defendants amounted to a little more than 216 million rubles.
On May 8, 2015, the court sentenced the main accused, Evgeny Vasiliev to five years in prison . However, already in August, she was released by parole .
