The Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey proposes to increase the popularity of tourist regions of the country through concerts of foreign pop stars and the development of alcohol tourism.
Such proposals, according to RBC, are contained in the report "The impact of Russian sanctions on the Antalya economy and possible measures." On February 11, the document was presented by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mahir Unal and the head of the Chamber of Commerce of Antalya Davat Chetin.
As indicated in the report, in 2015, the tourist flow to Antalya from Russia fell by 18%. To compensate for the losses from the sanctions established by the Russian Federation, the region, according to the authors of the document, will help the exhibition of the EXPO, which will work in Antalya from April 23 to October 30, 2016.
Representatives of the tourist trial and officials believe that the exhibition can be popularized by inviting the Western pop stars: Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Justin Bieber.
The authors of the report consider the development of alcoholic tourism, for this they urge the authorities to reduce excise taxes on alcohol.
In addition, the document indicates the need to pay attention to China and India: a tourist flow from these countries can compensate for the loss of tourists from Russia. The authors of the report are calling on Turgish Airlines and Sunexpress Airlines to open new direct flights to Antalya from different cities of the world.
The Russian Federation established sanctions against Turkey from January 1, 2016. In addition to the food embargo, we are talking about the ban on charter transportation to Turkey. Tour operators were recommended to stop selling trips to this country last fall.
The relations of Moscow and Ankara deteriorated after the Turkish Air Force shot down the Russian Su-24 Russian bomber on the border with Syria.
