© HCCIThe State Center for Contemporary Art (HCSI) has published a list of nominees of the XI All -Russian competition in the field of modern visual art "Innovation". The short list is compiled in all nominations, with the exception of the main one-the “work of visual art”.
According to the GCSI website , according to the results of the discussion and vote, the members of the Innovation Expert Council formed a list of nominees for the competition in four nominations.
In protest against the fact that the GTSIA rejected the application for the nomination of Peter Pavlensky’s work “ Threat ” in the nomination “Work of Visual Arts”, Ilya Dolgov (artist, co -founder of the Voronezh Center for Modern Art), Dmitry Ozerkov (art critic, curator, head of the modern art department of the Hermitage), and Anna Tolstova (art. Critic, permanent author of the Kommersant Publishing House).
The remaining members of the Expert Council in connection with the rejection by the organizers of the competition of the application of Peter Pavlensky decided to abandon the vote in the nomination “Work of Visual Arts”.
The situation was commented by the General Director of the GCS Mikhail Mindlin:
“According to the Regulation on the competition, the organizers have the right to reject any application submitted for the competition. We have rejected the application for the nomination of the work of Peter Pavlensky, the “threat” in the nomination “Work of visual art”. In this case, we are talking about work, during the creation of which an action was performed, which has obvious signs of violation of the law, and material damage was caused. The deviation of the application is not related to a professional assessment of the work. The nomination of work, in the process of creating which the law was violated, to the competition, which is held by the state organization and is held under the auspices and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, it seems to us unacceptable. As a result, the expert council, which followed after the rejection of the application for the nomination of the work of Peter Pavlensky discussion, decided not to vote in this nomination and, as a result, this year the prize in the nomination “Work of Visual Arts” will not be awarded. We are very sorry that the works of other artists who were submitted in this nomination have lost the opportunity to participate in the competition. ”
