The St. Petersburg City Court upheld the decision of the Smolninsky District Court, which recognized the MDK public content on the VKontakte social network in Russia. According to Fontanka.ru, a complaint of Sarafanka LLC (owner of the MDK trademark and 30 percent of the community) and Hermes LLC (the main owner of the public) was rejected.
The decision of the Smolninsky District Court was made on the August representation of the prosecutor's office of the Central District of the city. The department reacted to the denunciation of a citizen who saw in the publications of MDK violations of Russian laws on freedom of conscience and information. The examination, on the conclusions of which the prosecutor's office was based, was prepared at the Russian State Pedagogical University named after Herzen.
As Fontanka clarifies, after Easter, images of Jesus Christ with certain postscases and signs were published in the community, which, according to the publication, insult believers. Moreover, at the time of the trial, these images were removed from the resource. Nevertheless, experts indicated during the proceedings that publications with obscenities and pornographic images remain in the community, and any person, including a child, can get access to the resource.
MDK publications have repeatedly become reasons for scandals. So, in mid -June, the VKontakte administration removed an image with a joke from the public about the death of the singer Zhanna Friske .
One of the most high -profile scandals was the conflict of the community administration with a State Duma deputy from United Russia Mikhail Markelov in 2013. On October 21, 2013, almost immediately after the news ofthe explosion of the trolley in Volgograd , a demotivator appeared in the community with the type of Volgograd and the inscription "Boys, in Volgograd there are a terrorist attack, cries" To the rescue! "P.d.d, Karoch." The publication was accompanied by a comment "help with likes." In the first two days, the post scored over 36 thousand likes. At the same time, Panchvidze stated that the demotivator was published only to notify the community readers about the terrorist attack - it was not a joke about the tragedy in the intention of administrators.
Two days later,Markelov said in connection with the publication of MDK : "It is necessary to demand a criminal case. This is extremism in its pure form and at the same time vandalism." At the same time, he demanded that the community administration, but the then general director of VK Pavel Durov, be held accountable.
