The production of a new generation of secure army laptop will begin in Russia

The United Instrument -Building Corporation (OPC), which is part of the Rostec State Corporation, begins to prepare for the production of a new military laptop, protected from mechanical influences and cyber attacks, as well as operating at extreme temperatures, TASS reports with reference to the statement of the corporation. The new PC will replace the previous generation laptops, used as part of digital tactical radio communications complexes.

"The portable computer is operating on the basis of the Astra Linux operating system, developed for the needs of the Russian army and other law enforcement agencies. The device provides a high level of data protection from cyber attacks and" leaks "using special software and hardware solutions, including when transmitting information simultaneously in text and voice format, as well as in video conferencing mode," the representative of the OPC said.

According to the OPC website , the laptop works on the basis of the sixth generation processor with a working frequency of 3.5 GHz. The computer is equipped with GPS/GLONASS receiver, VGA and HDMI interfaces, Wi-Fi module and four USB 3.0 ports. At the same time, the connectors of external connected ports have increased security, which significantly increases the performance of equipment when working in the field.

The battery life of the device reaches eight hours, and thanks to the protected design, the device can operate at a temperature of -40 to +50 degrees Celsius. The dimensions and weight of the laptop are not reported.

The start of serial production of new army laptops is scheduled for the II quarter of the current year at the capacities of one of the enterprises of the subsidiary "Constellation".
