The Prosecutor General’s Office discovered signs of separatism and extremism in the article by Andrei Piontkovsky “Bomb, ready to explode”, reports Ruposters. The verification materials were transferred to the FSB.

As noted in the response of the Prosecutor General to the appeal of the lawyer Ilya Rraft, the audit found in the article “Signs of calls to carry out actions aimed at violating the territorial integrity of Russia. In addition, it was found that the article arouses hatred and enmity, and also "humiliates dignity by nationality."

The Prosecutor General’s Office handed over the audit materials to the FSB "to resolve the issue of criminal prosecution of the author of the article and employees of the editorial office of the Echo of Moscow radio station responsible for its posting on the site."

The Piontkovsky column was published on the Echo website on January 23, the next day after the rally in Grozny in support of the head of the region Ramzan Kadyrov. The article declares the need to recognize the independence of Chechnya.

Soon after the publication of the article, two final phrases were removed from the radio station: "It is possible to stop the ticking clockwork of the Russian-Chen's disaster only with the immediate exit of Chechnya from Russia, and the exit of Russia from the Chechen Republic must propose complete state independence with all legal consequences for our bilateral state relations."

On January 23, the Chechnya parliament sent appeals to the Prosecutor General and TFR . The deputies demanded that Piontkovsky discover the case under articles 280 (public calls for extremism) and 282 of the Criminal Code (excitement of hatred or enmity), and “echo” to be held accountable under the media law.

On January 28, State Duma deputy Shamsael Saraliev applied a request to the same bodies with a request to check the article for propaganda of separatism . His appeal was signed by 30 deputies of all factions. A protocol order was also supported by the committees of Irina Yarova and Leonid Levin.
