The authorities of the Moscow Region began preparations for the introduction of paid parking lots in large cities of the region. The Governor of the Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyov stated this in an interview with Vedomosti.
According to him, the final decision will be made, "if people support." “We are discussing this with the inhabitants. It seems that we need. And we are starting to prepare for this slowly,” Vorobyov said.
As an argument, he cited the fact that "in Odintsovo, for example, the number of registered cars is about the same as in the south of France."
“I have never seen so many machines on lawns and sidewalks as in Lyubertsy. Residents are very annoyed when it is impossible to park the car or drive with a stroller,” Vorobyov added.
According to the governor, the introduction of paid parking lots will be phased. “Where there is a high density, paid parking will appear in stages. As it was in Moscow. As, indeed, in all large cities of the world without exception. They did not find another way,” added Vorobyov.

Of these, the amount of funds transferred to the GKU AMPP to the budget of Moscow as fines for incorrect parking is 2.86 billion rubles. Motorists paid 2.96 billion rubles and 99 million rubles, respectively, for the services of evacuation and storage of their cars in special parking lots.
The first areas of paid parking appeared in the capital in 2012. Since December 26, 2015, the Moscow authorities introduced another 296 such sites . At the same time, rallies are regularly held in Moscow against paid parking lots (
