As the online publication of the New Companion notes, on behalf of the Perm Territory government, Deputy Prime Minister Irina Ivensky “took obligations to reconstruct the building of the Perm Opera and Ballet Theater with the construction of a new stage and to finance the theater in 2015, taking into account inflation.”

Theodore Krentzis has been heading the Perm opera since 2011. The validity of his previous contract expired on January 10, and the signing of a new contract was delayed due to the conflict of the conductor with the Minister of Culture of the Persky Territory Igor Gladnev, who, in particular, insisted on reducing the financing of the theater.

“Over the past five years, we managed to make a theater that the region, and the country can be proud of. We achieved decentralization of art. It so happened that in Russia art is concentrated in the capital: all the best projects are being implemented there, huge financial resources are concentrated there. They never expected anything special from the province. Now not only in the country - in the world they know the Perm Opera Theater, ”Krentzis said in an interview with Kommersant shortly before the signing of the contract.
