Umberto Eco died

The Italian Medievist historian, philosopher and writer Umberto Eco died in his house at the 85th year of life. As the BBC reports , the cause of death and other details have not yet been reported.

Umberto Eco was born in a small city of Alessandria near Turin in 1932. In 1954, he graduated from Turin University, where he studied medieval philosophy and literature.

Eco published his first novel "The Name of Rose" in 1980. This book subsequently became its most famous literary work and was filmed in 1986. The main role in the film was played by Sean Connery.

The seventh and last Roman Umberto Eco - Zero number - was published in January 2015.

IVF himself considered writing not the most important part of his life. “I am a philosopher. I write novels only on weekends,” he said.

IVF in 1988 founded the Department of Communications at the University of San Marino. He taught the theory of culture and aesthetics at universities in Milan, Turin and Florence.

Umberto Eco was an honorary doctor of many universities. He wrote a large number of essays on philosophy, linguistics, semiotics and medieval aesthetics.
