Ten years ago, on February 23, 2006, the building of the Basmanny Market collapsed in Moscow. 68 people died, 39 people were injured.
The commission of the government of Moscow found that the roof of the building collapsed due to a break in one of the cables-cables on which it rested. The cliff itself was the result of several reasons, among which were the corrosion of the cable and the risky restructuring of the building - an internal circular balcony was erected in it, which was then overloaded with goods. The charge of "causing death and grievous bodily harm by negligence" was only brought against the former director of the State Unitary Enterprise "Basmanny Market" Mark Mishiev, but he fell under an amnesty.
