More than other media outlets, Ahmed Mansur Kurani Ali, tells CNN, but in many details the information of the American television channel does not correspond to this from other sources.
Four-year-old Ahmed (CNN claims that he was three years old, but in all other sources-four) was one of 116 people, whom the military court sentenced the military court on February 16 to participate in the riots in the city of El Fayum in January 2014. The court ruled that supporters of the overthrown President Muhammad Mursi killed three people (according to other information, killed four and wounded another eight), and also caused harm to state property.
At that time, Ahmed was a little over a year. For the first time, they came to arrest the boy a few days after the riots. Father showed the police a half -year -old child, after which he himself was detained.
Mansur Sr. stayed in prison for four months, and then appeared in court. The judge, having studied the birth certificate of the child, realized that it was a mistake, and released a man. CNN notes that after this incident, Mansur Sr. was hiding for a year and a half, afraid to be arrested again.
However, a year and a half later, in mid -February 2016, the military court sentenced him not to his father, but his four -year -old son. During the hearings, the lawyers of other defendants showed Ahmed's birth certificate, thus trying to prove the erroneousness of the soon investigation - names 116 suspects were named a day after the incident. Lawyer Abu Kaf, who participated in the case, claims: in addition to the child, a person who was not in the country was in the number of accused.
The verdict of four -year -old Ahmed was changed after the trial, when the media drew attention to this case. The authorities recognized their wrong and promised that neither the boy nor his father would be arrested. It turned out that Ahmed was arrested by mistake - they actually searched for his namesake, Ahmed Mansur Kurani Sharara. The location of the latter is unknown, so the verdict was sentenced to him in absentia. "Real" Ahmed 16 years.
Soon, four -year -old Ahmed, together with his father, appeared on the private television channel Dreamtv. The boy was asleep in his arms, and Mansur Sr. talked about his arrest and imprisonment. Family lawyer Ida Saede said how this “mistake” occurred: the policeman said that a certain named Ahmed Mansur, who participated in the riots, lives on a certain street. The investigation said that Ahmed was 16 years old, but in the indicated area there was only one person with the same name - four -year -old Ahmed Mansur.
The press secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Egypt Abu Bakr Abdel-Karim called the show: he stated that no one would touch the mistake of the accused, no one would touch the boy and his father. At the same time, he added that among those wanted by the police is the uncle of young Ahmed.

The boy’s mother also phoned the show. She said that the police just came to the house and were interested in where her husband and son were. They did not ask about the uncle of the child. Hearing this, Mansur Sr. began to cry: “I did nothing wrong. They said that they would take my child away from me. No one can pick it up. Lord, don't leave me. ”
After this plot, notes the BBC, Mansur began to avoid cameras. The channel reporter believes that a man did not make such a decision himself, but according to someone’s indication.
