The court sentenced the ex-CEO of Premier Estate to prison in the Bank of Moscow case

The Meshchansky Court of Moscow on Thursday, February 25, sentenced the former general director of the Premier Estate company Svetlana Timonina to five years in a general regime colony for complicity in the case of embezzlement of funds from the Bank of Moscow. This was reported by the Interfax news agency with reference to its own correspondent located in the courthouse.

By decision of the court, Timonina was taken into custody in the courtroom. Lawyers for the former CEO announced their desire to appeal the verdict.

As part of the case, VTB Bank, which was among the shareholders of the Bank of Moscow and is the victim in the case, filed a civil claim for more than 15 billion rubles, but the judge considered that the claim should be resolved through civil proceedings. At the same time, she retained the arrest imposed on Timonina’s property.

At the end of 2010, the Investigative Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a case against the former president of the Bank of Moscow, Andrei Borodin, and his deputy, Dmitry Akulinin. According to the investigation, the general director of Premier Estate contributed to embezzlement on an especially large scale, which was committed by the former management of the Bank of Moscow. According to their version, Timonina, together with the president of the Kuznetsky Most Development company Boris Shemyakin (he is also involved in this case), created the Premier Estate company and became its general director. The accomplices initiated the receipt of a loan from the Bank of Moscow, and the management of the financial organization, using administrative resources, ensured the issuance of loan money. At the same time, the issued financial resources were intended for third parties. With an authorized capital of 10,000 rubles. Premier Estate received a loan in the amount of 12.76 billion rubles from the Bank of Moscow. The company's staff number was 2 people.

Wednesday's verdict is the second in this case. Earlier, the Meshchansky Court of Moscow sentenced two former bank employees to 4.5 and 4 years in a general regime colony - senior trader of the foreign exchange operations directorate Konstantin Salnikov and head of the banking operations support department Alla Averina. They were found guilty of embezzlement of more than 1 billion rubles. The verdict is being appealed by those convicted, and therefore has not entered into force.
