The conductor Eri class died

On the night of February 26, at the age of 76, the Estonian conductor Eri Class died.

Eri Class was born in 1939 in Tallinn, in 1959 he graduated from the Tallinn Musical School, in 1964 - the Tallinn Conservatory, trained at the Leningrad Conservatory (1964–1967) and at the Bolshoi Theater (1969–1971). Since 1965 he was a conductor, from 1975 to 1994 - the chief conductor and artistic director of the Estonian Opera and Ballet Theater in Tallinn.

Eri Class was also the main conductor of the Swedish royal opera, the symphony orchestra of Orchus (Denmark), the Symphony Orchestra of the Dutch radio, the artistic director of the Philharmonic in Tamper and the chief conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra Tamper (Finland), the chief conductor and artistic adviser to the Israeli orchestra. Symphonietta ”in Beer-Sheva (Israel).

Since 1999, he conducted songs on all Estonian holidays, since 2002 he was the artistic director of the Tallinn Philharmonic, since 2005 - the artistic director of the Birgitta festival in Tallinn. Since 2003, he collaborated with the Moscow Theater "New Opera", in 2006-2011 he was his chief conductor.

Eri class worked a lot with young musicians, headed young orchestras in Scandinavia and Ireland, in America and Asia, was a professor of orchestra conducting the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki and invited professors of the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater.

In total, throughout his creative career, Eri class worked with more than a hundred symphonic orchestras of forty countries, among them the Philharmonic orchestras of Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Sydney, Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, Montreal.

In 2014, Eri Class received the Golden Mask Award for an outstanding contribution to the development of theatrical art.
