The State Duma has finally equated car rallies to rallies

The State Duma adopted in the second and third readings a bill that equates motor rallies to rallies, and the creation of tent cities to picketing. The bill was supported only by deputies from United Russia, it was adopted by 238 votes. 199 deputies voted against, three abstained.

• A bill equating motor rallies with rallies was submitted to the State Duma by the Russian government. The authors of this document propose to fine citizens for 300,000 rubles for holding a motor rally or creating a tent camp without the consent of the authorities. Repeated violations are punishable by up to five years in prison.
• Deputies of all parliamentary parties opposed the adoption of the bill, with the exception of United Russia. LDPR deputy Alexander Sherin said that the bill aims to "silence the opposition and block our activities" before the elections to the State Duma. *
