Puchkov arrived at the mine in Vorkuta, where 30 miners died and disappeared

The head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Vladimir Puchkov arrived in Vorkuta, where a mountain blow occurred at the Severnaya mine. Most miners managed to get out, earlier it became known about two dead and 28 missing ones, then the sources of TASS and Interfax reported the discovery of two more bodies.

The Technical Director of the Vorkutangol enterprise Denis Paykin said that two explosions occurred in the Severnaya mine with a break, which led to collapse and fire.

The cause of the accident at the Severnaya mine in Vorkuta was the explosion of methane, said Tatyana Bushkova, head of the press service of Vorkutangol JSC with reference to the data of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies.

The press service of the Ministry of Emergencies late on the evening of February 25 reported: “The Government Commission for the prevention and liquidation of emergency situations led by Minister Vladimir Puchkov flew from Moscow to Vorkuta, where a mining impact has occurred at the Nord Association of Vorkutangol today. Members of the Government Commission will coordinate the actions of all emergency services.”

The mountain blow at the Severnaya mine occurred at 14:22 Moscow time on Thursday at a depth of 780 meters. At the time of the incident, 110 miners were in mountainous production, 80 of them rose to the surface. Eight miners turned for medical help, four were hospitalized.

A group of forces consisting of 90 people and 15 units of equipment was involved in search and rescue operations. In the emergency site in the mining, five departments of a militarized mining detachment of the Russian Ministry of Emergencies work, on the surface - fire and rescue formations of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies in the Komi Republic, 14 emergency brigades and other emergency services.

The Severnaya mine belongs to Vorkutangol OJSC, which, in turn, is part of Severstal Alexei Mordashov. The Severnaya mine, one of the five underground mines of the enterprise, was built on the basis of a group reconstruction of mines N5 and N7 and commissioned on December 31, 1969.

Since 1994, 161 accidents have occurred in the Vorkutangol mines, 116 people have died, the Ministry of Emergencies reported.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a case of violation of safety rules in conducting mining after an accident at the mine.

The production of the preliminary investigation was entrusted to the department for the investigation of especially important cases. "The investigative group was created, which included experienced forensic investigators and other employees of the regional administration. A rescue operation continues at the scene, at the end of which investigators will immediately begin to inspect the scene," TASS quotes.

The prosecutor's office of the republic organized an audit of compliance with the law on labor protection and industrial safety at the Severnaya mine.
