The synagogue and the memory of Boris Nemtsov.

This Saturday - an extraordinary event will occur in our walls.

A year ago - a prominent figure in the Russian opposition movement was killed in the center of Moscow - Boris Nemtsov.

He was not only a bright and talented person, but also a Jew.

This year, my friends, Russian activists living in New York, decided to make a memorial rally on the anniversary of his death.

And although this is the date of the anniversary of the Jewish calendar and falls on the shabat - they decided to make a rally, inviting all the caring. Moreover, in other countries, rallies will also take place on this day.

And so they turned to me and we decided to make an interesting move.

After the rally, they decided to invite all the brave Jews (and sympathetic) to us to the synagogue, where just at that time I spend my traditional subbory lesson with my permanent students.

And we decided that we would attach the rally participants to my students, so that they also participate in our shabbal studies.

And now the most important.

According to Jewish tradition, we can do good deeds after the departure of a person - to exalt his soul.

And we decided that we would devote our shabbal lesson - the exaltation of the soul of Boris Nemtsov.

So Boris - who during his lifetime was not very interested in his Jewry - will receive spiritual support and his Jewry will be strengthened by our joint participation in the lesson.

Moreover, if the Jews come to the synagogue - in memory of Boris, it will be possible to say that their arrival and participation in the lesson - will be merit to the soul of Boris.

This is very important and although of course it would be better if he would realize the importance of his Jewry during his lifetime, and this option also has great significance.

By the way, we are in our synagogue - sometimes we practice celebrating the anniversary of the departure of famous Jews of the past, who were not religious, but whose souls are worthy to be mentioned and exalted.
