Help not just dogs / Pet helpThe company "Perspective-Auto" received the right to manage a shelter in the village of Karlok by winning the state tender. According to his conditions, she pledged to catch hopeless dogs, put in a shelter, vaccinate and sterilization, and then, after six months, to release.
According to eyewitnesses, the prospect-Auto workers practically did not engage in catching dogs. Basically they were stolen from the owners, and also accepted for the money of those animals that the owners themselves wanted to get rid of. Dogs were kept in terrible conditions, but after the protest of the zoo guards, the prospect-Auto workers simply left the territory of the shelter. During December, only one employee and volunteers served the territory. Now the shelter is functioning only thanks to the volunteer movement. Thanks to volunteers, about 200 dogs have already been transferred to other shelters or given to the new owners. Others are still waiting for the decision of their fate.
About a hundred dogs roam the territory of the shelter and behind its fence. Volunteers here are cramped cells with a wooden floor in which booths are installed. In this space, the dog practically does not see the sun and cannot move. The volunteers who find themselves in the shelter for the first time, out of a sense of pity, do what so far cannot be done - they release dogs to the will. Some of the dogs run away to the nearest village, where they are shot or poisoned. Photo: Anton Klimov

At the moment, the situation in the shelter has more or less stabilized, but volunteers are afraid of the future catching dogs. The new tender will be held in the coming days. Photo: Anton KlimovThanks to the help of the Irkutsk volunteers, the problem of the Karluk shelter may be possible to solve in the near future. But right now, help is needed by another organization, also engaged in hopeless dogs. The project “Not just Dogs” finds a house from shelters, at the same time helping single people. Together with their new owners, dogs go to orphans, disabled people, as well as the hospice and nursing home. The ability to communicate with dogs makes the life of these people a little better. Helping the project “Not only dogs”, we help not only dogs, but also people. This is doubly important.
