The Moscow Helsinki group holds a conference on human rights activities of the priest Gleb Yakunin (1934–2014).

A documentary about the legendary courier of the Polish anti -Hitler resistance, which in 1942 was the first to bring to England and the USA the news of the mass destruction of Jews by the Nazis.

In 1942, hundreds of thousands of Polish Jews were sent to Nazi death camps. The world refused to know this. The Messenger of the Polish Resistance, Jan Karsky was forced to go to the Warsaw ghetto to see how the solution of the Jewish issue for the first time in the history of mankind is brought to the end. Having visited the death camp and faced what was outside the human understanding, Karsky tried to get from the Western world recognition of the Holocaust and help in the termination of the extermination of Jews. His report was a turning point in how the Western public perceived the tragedy of Jews in Poland, and helped to save Jews from Hungary and Romania.

“The war ended 35 years ago, I am not returning to it,” says Yang Kara in the epoch -making film of Claude Lanzman “Shoa”, which in 1987 first published the history of Karskaya during the Second World War. The director Slavomir Grunberg uses this and other archival personnel in his film, complementing them with animation and interviews with experts to once again tell about the most important activities of Jan Karskoy - modern righteous.

March 21 at 19:00 - opening of the exhibition "Different Wars: School Textbooks of European countries about the Second World War"

Russia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Poland - for each of these countries, the Second World War had its own face and consequences. Many conflicts have their roots in the history of war, the memory of the war still remains painful, the interpretation of events causes disputes that goes far beyond the academic community.

The heritage of this period is still not meaningfully properly. The history textbooks presented at the exhibition shows how the same events in European countries that the schoolboy should draw, which he should know, and what, perhaps not, do not.

The exhibition will work daily, except Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 to 19:00.

March 23 at 19:00 - report by Natalie Muan (Cercec/CNRS) "After German hard labor: the fate of the former Soviet prisoners Ravensbruk"
(joint seminar of the German Historical Institute in Moscow, the Center for Franco-Russian Research in Moscow and the International Memorial)

Sergey Mironenko is a Russian historian, doctor of historical sciences, professor, director of the State Archive of the Russian Federation, member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Military Health Society.

In the focus of the cycle “Historian behind the workbench” - a historian and his creative laboratory, as well as important problems of today's science and the formation of a historical community.

Project leaders: Konstantin Morozov and Nikita Sokolov.

The cycle is designed primarily for historians, students and graduate students of historical faculties, as well as everyone who is interested in historical science and its problems.
