They opened the garage and took away the tent

Hello! This week, the hearings on one of the most high-profile political cases - the case of Ukrainian pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, accused of involvement in the murder of Russian journalists - should have ended. It was expected that she would give her last word on March 3, but after the debate the judge unexpectedly interrupted the hearing and postponed it to March 9, after which Savchenko went on a dry hunger strike. The prosecution is asking to sentence her to 23 years in prison.

What happened (27.02 - 04.03)

On February 27, events were held in different cities of Russia in connection with the anniversary of the murder of Boris Nemtsov on the Bolshoi Moskvoretsky Bridge. Unfortunately, there were some incidents. The city of Kemerovo distinguished itself: nine people were detained here and three of them were sent under arrest for ten days . In Krasnoyarsk, an hour before the start of the rally, the organizer, chairman of the local PARNAS branch, Evgeniy Baburin, disappeared (he had been threatened the day before); later hegot in touch and said that he was taken in a car and was not allowed out - this was enough for the rally to not take place without an organizer. In Voronezh, rally participants were pelted with brilliant green paint . Several arrests also took place in Moscow.

Moscow activist Vadim Korovin was found with weapons and explosives in his garage . He was warned that a provocation was being prepared against him, and he called the police himself. Korovin believes that IDSpars LLC, a company engaged in the demolition of garages, is behind this, since he sought compensation from it.

On the night of March 3, people in police uniforms arrived in Moscow’s Torfyanka park (some of them hid their faces) and took away a tent from the activists on duty there who were protesting against the construction of a temple on this territory. The activists were threatened that if they complained, administrative cases would be opened against them.

It seems that recently not a single week goes by without a case being filed for extremism for publications on social networks. This time Tyumen made its contribution to the “fight against extremism”: on March 3, a popular blogger, member of the Patriotic Committee on January 25, Alexey Kungurov, was detained here. He was taken to the FSB headquarters and was informed that a case had been opened against him for justifying terrorism for his LiveJournal post about the Islamic State. Kungurov is under recognizance not to leave the place.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is dissatisfied with the fact that recently too often people have been denied approval for events: they say that this only plays into the hands of “quasi-politicians”, and makes it more difficult for the police to work.

On March 9, the hearing on the case of Nadezhda Savchenko is due to resume.

On March 10, Krasnodar is scheduled to consider a complaint against the sentence of activist Daria Polyudova , who is going to be sent to a penal colony for two years for posts on social networks.

On the same day, a court hearing on the ban of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people is scheduled to take place in Crimea, and in Tver - in the case of Andrei Bubeev : after the verdict in the case of online extremism, a new case was almost immediately opened against him - also about online extremism.
