
The head of the press service and information of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Major General Igor Konashenkov, was reprimanded. It is reported by Kommersant with reference to sources.
It is clarified that Major General was punished for insufficient compliance with safety measures when working with media representatives in the area of special tasks.
On March 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that in Syria, in the area of the village of Kinsibb, 150–450 meters from a group of foreign and Russian journalists exploded shells of large -caliber artillery. As a result, four journalists suffered: from China, Canada, Bulgaria and Russia. In total, 33 journalists fell under fire.
It was reported that the journalists were in the Syrian province of Latakia with a press tour. As part of the tour, reporters were to visit the settlements that had already signed an agreement on a truce.
According to the information provided by the Syrian army officer, the group “Front al-Nusra” (terrorist organization, activity is prohibited in the Russian Federation) from Turkey. It is clarified that a truce does not apply to this grouping.
On February 27, a truce was announced in Syria. Russia and the United States on February 22 reached an agreement on the settlement of the Syrian conflict, and the truce was announced as part of these agreements.
