Nadezhda Savchenko ends her dry hunger strike

Nadezhda Savchenko, charged with the murder of Russian journalists, decided on March 10 to end the dry hunger strike.

“Today I was with Nadezhda in the pre-trial detention center, she started drinking water, stopped the dry hunger strike,” lawyer Mark Feigin told Interfax. According to him, she still does not take food. “And it won’t be until the 21st or 22nd,” the defender added. (On March 21–22, the verdict of the Donetsk city court in the “Savchenko case” is expected ).

According to Feigin, Savchenko agreed to abandon the dry hunger strike announced on March 3 at the request of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The hunger strike lasted seven days.

On December 17, 2015, Savchenko announced the start of a hunger strike, which she intends to hold until the end of her trial, and on March 3, 2016, she went on a dry hunger strike in protest against the postponement of the court session, refusing to take water.
