Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake & Palmer has died

Keyboardist Keith Emerson, best known for being a member of the prog-rock supergroup Emerson, Lake & Palmer, has died in Los Angeles. The death of the musician was reported on the band's official Facebook.

Emerson was 71 years old. The causes of his death were not reported.

• Emerson, Lake & Palmer was formed in 1970 by Keith Emerson, Greg Lake and Carl Palmer. The team is considered one of the most commercially successful prog-rock bands. Before the breakup in 1979, the musicians released seven albums, two more records were released during the reunion in the 1990s.
