Ilya Romanov transferred to Mordovia

According to Romanov’s lawyer Evgeny Gubin, the anarchist, who was in pre-trial detention center No. 1 in Nizhny Novgorod, was sent to the Main Directorate of the Federal Penitentiary Service of the Republic of Mordovia. As it turned out, this happened on March 11, but it became known only today, when Gubin came to the pre-trial detention center to visit his client. However, the exact place where Romanov will be sent to serve his sentence has not yet been clarified.

Ilya Romanov’s mother was also not notified that her son had been transferred to a colony.

Nizhny Novgorod anarchist Ilya Romanov was convicted under four articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: Part 1 of Art. 30 hours 1 tbsp. 205 (preparation for a terrorist act), part 1 of Art. 222.1 (illegal storage, transportation or carrying of explosives or explosive devices), Part 1 of Art. 223.1 (illegal production of explosives) and Part 3 of Art. 30 hours 2 tbsp. 205.2 (attempted public calls for terrorist activities committed using the media) to 10 years in prison in a strict regime colony and a fine of 110 thousand rubles. The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, having considered Romanov's appeal, reduced his term of imprisonment by a year.

The defense insists on the anarchist’s innocence and considers the criminal case against him to be completely falsified by FSB officers. Romanov himself does not admit his guilt and calls himself persecuted for political reasons, and his lawyer Evgeny Gubin characterizes the case against his client as “an artistic invention of an FSB investigator.”
