Foreign Ministry confirms Kerry's visit to Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry held telephone conversations, TASS reports.

“The heads of the foreign affairs agencies considered the tasks of deepening the coordination of actions between our countries, including along the military line, in the interests of consolidating the ceasefire in Syria and curbing its violations,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

On the eve of John Kerry said he plans to visit Moscow next week. The Secretary of State stressed that he wants to discuss the Syrian conflict with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Secretary of State also stressed that a "political transition" is needed with the formation of a new government in Syria.

Kerry's last visit was in December 2015. Then he met with Vladimir Putin and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
