In Grozny, the head of the “Committee for the Prevention of Torture” was attacked

In Grozny, the head of the "Committee for the Prevention of Torture" Igor Kalyapin was attacked, according to Dmitry Utukin, an employee of the human rights organization.

On Wednesday evening, March 9, unidentified persons attacked a minibus of the Combined Mobile Group of the Committee for the Prevention of Torture and journalists. The attackers beat people and took away their mobile phones, after which they set fire to the car of human rights activists. Four people were hospitalized, including two foreign journalists from Sweden and Norway.

On the evening of the same day, people armed with machine guns tried to enter the checkpoint office. As it turned out later, the attackers stole personal equipment from the car and electronics from the office of the Joint Mobile Group.

On the fact of the attack, a criminal case was initiated under Art. 167 "Deliberate destruction or damage to property" and Art. 213 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Hooliganism". Later, a new article was added - "an attack for the purpose of stealing someone else's property, committed by a group of persons using weapons or objects used as weapons."
