Wage debts in Russia reached 3.3 billion rubles

In March, organizations' overdue wages amounted to 3.3 billion rubles. Rosstat reported this on Thursday, March 17.

The total amount of wage debts has decreased by 1.02 billion since February 1. The statistics do not include small businesses.

More than 95% of debts arose due to the lack of organizations' own funds. The debt due to late receipt of funds from budgets amounted to 140 million rubles.

The largest debts due to the lack of organizations' own funds were formed in the Primorsky Territory (413.8 million rubles), the Irkutsk region (273 million rubles) and Moscow (110 million rubles).

The highest debts are in manufacturing (40%), construction (28%), transport (8%) and 6% each in mining and agriculture.

As of March 1, 72,000 people had not received their salaries.

As of January 1, the amount of salary debt to employees was equal to 3.5 billion rubles.

Overdue wages are considered to be amounts actually accrued, but not paid on time.

In February, the Ministry of Labor reported that real wages of Russians fell by almost 10% in 2015. According to the department, in 2016 wages will be reduced by another 3.5%.
