Leonardo DiCaprio received an Oscar from Yakutia

Leonardo DiCaprio posted on his Instagram a photo of the Oscar received from fans from Yakutia. The actor thanked the people of the region, in particular the women who donated their jewelry to create the figurine.

The Yakut "Oscar" is a one and a half kilogram silver figurine holding a gold ritual vessel choron in its hands .

“As [the creators of the figurine] wrote in their letter, Yakutia is one of the coldest inhabited places in the world. And the region is extremely vulnerable to climate change. Rising temperatures are a serious threat to local residents, their way of life and habitat,” DiCaprio said in the caption to the photo.

The silver figurine was delivered to Miami by mid-March, but since the actor could not come there, it was sent to Los Angeles and handed over to the addressee. The creators of the Yakut "Oscar" stated that their attitude towards DiCaprio would not change, even if he did not react to the gift.
