The prosecution requested 4.5 years in prison for the general director of the Mostovik company, Oleg Shishov, in the case of major embezzlement during the construction of the Primorsky Oceanarium on Russky Island. reports this Interfax from the hall of the Frunzensky District Court of Vladivostok.

In addition, the state prosecution asked the court to fine Shishov 900 thousand rubles.

The representative of the injured party, in turn, asked the court to sentence Shishov to the minimum possible punishment, up to a suspended sentence of imprisonment. The defendant's defense asked the court to impose a non-custodial sentence on their client.

The next hearing in the case will take place on Monday, March 21. Shishov is expected to make his final statement, after which the court will retire to deliberate to pronounce a verdict.

Shishov was arrested in November 2014. At first, he did not admit guilt, claiming that he did not steal budget funds, but, on the contrary, invested almost 2 billion rubles. into the construction of the facility from company funds in order to build the aquarium on time. However, in April last year, he entered into a pre-trial deal with the investigation and admitted guilt in the theft of 1.9 billion rubles.

The second defendant in the case of theft during the construction of the oceanarium is the director of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Directorate for Construction in the Far Eastern Federal District” Andrei Poplavsky. He is accused of stealing 40 million rubles.

The investigation believes that Shishov and Poplavsky, from March 2010 to September 2014, stole 1 billion 982 million rubles allocated for the construction of the oceanarium. They were both charged under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).
