On March 16, it became known that Sergei Mironenko was removed from the post of director of the State Archives of the Russian Federation. Now he is only the scientific director of the archive

Finally, what many of us had long expected and feared happened: the director of the State Archives, the famous scientist Sergei Mironenko, was dismissed by the writer and minister Vladimir Medinsky.

Mironenko was truly world-famous as an outstanding specialist in various aspects of Russian history, but especially in the organization of archiving in Russia. He headed the State Archives from the day it was founded in 1992. As long as Mironenko remained where he was, we remained confident that attempts by the state to falsify national history would not cross a certain critical line.

It is quite remarkable when exactly Sergei Mironenko was fired - about a day after the closest associates of the current Minister of Culture were formally charged with embezzlement of budget funds on an especially large scale. Moreover, people who were brought to the Ministry of Culture by Medinsky were under charges and even in custody. It was necessary to somehow divert public attention from this dirty scandal, and apparently, a way was found: they urgently got rid of one of the most respected scientists who worked in the ministry system.

It is clear that the dismissal of Sergei Mironenko was most likely prepared for a long time, and the scandal around officials who encroached on the budget funds allocated for the restoration of historical monuments was only a trigger and reason for this.

The reason for the dismissal is that in modern Russia the bureaucracy least of all needs the guardians of historical truth, and especially that detachment of the faceless bureaucracy, which is represented by Minister Medinsky. A professional PR man who proclaimed himself not only a writer, but also a historian (many incredible passages of his historical dissertations were and remain the object of increased attention of professional communities such as Dissernet), Medinsky is trying to impose on us a lubok-leaf picture of our past, which can explain everything , except for one thing: why is there so much unraveled and deceitful shit in our present.

Despite a very high-profile corruption scandal in his department, Doctor of Science Medinsky, contrary to bureaucratic and universal ethics, has not yet resigned and is not even trying to temporarily withdraw from business, for example, going on vacation to give law enforcement officers the opportunity to calmly figure out who exactly and to what extent, in a wide composition of an organized criminal group, he messed up in the ministry entrusted to him. Ministry of Russian Culture.

Perhaps the basis for decisive and large-scale personnel changes in the Ministry of Culture will be the no less scandalous dismissal of the director of the State Archives?
