March 23 at 11:45 Mosgorsud will consider an appeal against the sentence to Ildar Dadin. In December, the judge of the Basmann District Court Natalia Dudar sentenced him to three years in prison in a general regime colony under Article 212.1 of the Criminal Code (repeated violations at rallies). This is the first court decision under an article introduced in the Criminal Code in 2014. The accused under the same article Vladimir Ionov and Irina Kalmykova, who were under the recognizance not to leave, fled to Ukraine.
Dadin's sentence caused protests in Russia and abroad. The largest human rights organizations recognized him as political prisoner and demanded the abolition of the "antimiting" criminal article.
