A repeat offender from near Irkutsk killed a pensioner pawnbroker with a brick

A 48-year-old man from the Irkutsk region was detained for the murder of an 84-year-old woman who was borrowing money from local residents. As reported on the Investigative Committee’s website, on March 14, the duty department received a message about the discovery of the body of an 84-year-old woman with head injuries in one of the houses in the village of Malyshevka, Irkutsk Region. While examining the scene, investigators discovered and seized the crime weapon - a brick with traces of blood. A 48-year-old local resident, who spent more than half of his life in prison, was detained on suspicion of committing murder. According to investigators, the woman “often borrowed money from local residents,” and “it was self-interest that prompted the suspect to commit a crime.” The case against the man was initiated under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder). A preventive measure in the form of detention was chosen for him.
