By the 110th anniversary of the birth of Dmitry Shostakovich (1906-1975), the company "Melody" released a special anniversary set of 10 CDs with records of all 15 composer symphonies.
This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of "Melody".
Among the records there are really rare ones: for the first time, the CD is recorded on the fifteenth symphony performed by the large symphony orchestra of the All -Union Radio and Central Television under the control of the son of the composer, Maxim Shostakovich, as well as the archival recording of the fourteenth symphony performed by Galina Vishnevskaya, Mark Reshetin and the Moscow Chamber Orchestra under the control of Rudolf Barshy.
“The recording of the last symphony was made under the supervision of Shostakovich himself shortly after the world premiere. According to legend, which lasts among the former musicians of the Great Symphony Orchestra of the All -Union Radio and Central Television, it should have been destroyed along with other records of the conductor, when Maxim Shostakovich did not return after the end of foreign tour. However, it has been preserved among the phonograms of "Melody", ”the Catalog of the company" Melody " says.
Also among conductors, whose records were included in the anniversary kit, Evgeny Mravinsky, Kirill Kondrashin, Evgeny Svetlanov, Konstantin Ivanov, Gennady Rozhdestvensky and Yuri Temirikanov.
All records were made by the company "Melody" from 1961 to 1984. A digital edition with a booklet will also be available in iTunes and other digital sites.
