Putin appointed Kadyrov as acting head of Chechnya

President Vladimir Putin appointed Ramazan Kadyrov as acting head of the Chechen Republic, reports . Interfax

The President expressed hope that Kadyrov will go to the polls in September 2016.

“Today I signed a decree appointing you as acting head of the Chechen Republic, followed, I hope, in September of this year, by going to the polls,” Putin told Kadyrov.

Putin noted that he signed the decree on Kadyrov’s appointment “based on what has been done in recent years for the Chechens, for the residents of the republic, first of all, and, as a derivative, for all of Russia.”

In addition, Putin reminded Kadyrov of the need to comply with Russian laws in Chechnya and interact with federal authorities.

“We need to pay more attention to contacts with federal authorities. Both you and the future leaders of the republic, of course, must do everything to comply with Russian laws in all spheres of our life,” the president said.

Kadyrov's term as head of the Chechen Republic was supposed to end on April 5, 2016.
