The return of the Ukrainian military personnel of Nadezhda Savchenko, convicted by 22 years, by the Rostov court in the case of the murder of journalists of the VGTRK, to his homeland is "theoretically possible", however, the legislation of the Russian Federation must be complied with the legislation of the Russian Federation. The head of the administration of the President of the Russian Federation Sergey Ivanov spoke about this position of the Russian authorities, Interfax reports.

At the same time, the head of the presidential administration emphasized that the issue of exchange of Savchenko is in no way related to the implementation of the Minsk agreements. “This has no relationship to the Minsk agreements, because the Russian Federation is not a side of the conflict,” Ivanov explained.

On Wednesday, March 23, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that the decision to return Savchenko to his homeland can only be made after the entry of the Russian court verdict. “I am not waiting for any decisions before the so -called court decision entered into force. This should be in early April. As soon as this happens, Nadia should immediately be returned to Ukraine,” the head of state said.

At the same time, Poroshenko confirmed that "he was ready to use his constitutional powers in order to ensure the exchange that representatives of the Russian side spoke of."

A day earlier, the Ukrainian leader said that he invited the Russian authorities to exchange Savchenko for the detainees in Ukraine Alexander Alexandrov and Evgeny Erofeev, who are called "GRU officers" in Kiev. Poroshenko also said that earlier his Russian colleague Vladimir Putin allegedly promised to return Savchenko to his homeland after the announcement of the sentence.

However, on Wednesday, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov told reporters that he was “unknown about such agreements,” and reminded of his statement made the day before. “As for the issuance, non -gourmet, exchange - only the President of Russia can make these decisions,” Peskov emphasized. “In this case, I do not know about any decisions that would be made by the president,” the press secretary added.

On March 22, the Donetsk City Court of the Rostov Region found Nadezhda Savchenko guilty of the murder of journalists of VGTRK Igor Korneluk and Anton Voloshin, as well as the illegal crossing of the border of the Russian Federation and sentenced to 22 years the colony and a fine of 30 thousand rubles. Earlier, Savchenko herself said that she did not recognize the verdict of the Russian court, but she would not appeal it.

Earlier, the press repeatedly discussed the possibility of exchange of Savchenko and Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, sentenced in Russia in August 2015 to 20 years in prison, on the “GRU fighters” Alexander Alexandrov and Evgeny Erofeev, detained in Ukraine.

On March 12, the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Maria Zakharova noted that the issue of transferring Savchenko to Ukraine was not considered before the verdict was issued to her.

Before that, the Ukrainian side announced the refusal of Russia to discuss options for the liberation of Savchenko during a meeting of the tripartite contact group in Minsk. According to the adviser to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine Yuri Tandita, Poroshenko said that Kyiv was ready for any compromises, and this was officially announced, but representatives of the Russian Federation refused to consider the issue of the release of Savchenko.
