The exhibition "Late Mashkov" will be held in Moscow

On April 14, 2016, the Foundation of the Late Mashkov exhibition dedicated to the last twentieth anniversary of the artist’s work opens in Moscow.

The exhibition will show about forty works by Ilya Mashkov (1881–1944) from private collections and state museums of Russia, including the Tretyakov Gallery and the Russian Museum.

The collection of the Russian Museum will be presented, in particular, the earliest works of the exposition - “still life with a fan” (1922), “Crimean fruits and magnolia” (1923), “Portrait of M.I. Mashkova "(1923). Also, visitors to the exhibition will be able to see the famous painting “Moskovskaya Snow. Bread ”(1924), recently absent in the permanent exposition of the Tretyakov Gallery.

The exhibition also includes Mashkov's less known works. Among them are three programmatic “portraits in the landscape”, created in 1930, which for the first time in 85 years are exposed together: until recently considered the lost “girl with sunflowers” ​​from the Moscow private collection and “collective farm with pumpkins” and “Girl on the Tabal Plantation” from the Volgograd Art Museum named after I.I. Mashkova.

The basis of the exposition was the classic “museum” still lifes of the 1920s and 1930s and the chamber work of the latter, the “Abramtsev period” (1930s-1940s).

A special part of the exposition is eight sketches to the ensemble of the Moscow Hotel (1937) from a private collection. In addition, at the exhibition, six panels created by Mashkov for the banquet hall of the Moscow Hotel (1937–1938), which are at restoration at the State Museum of Architecture, will be presented at the exhibition.

The exhibition "Late Mashkov" will last until July 3.
