Colta.ru will show bath readings

On April 1 and 2, Colta.ru will conduct a live broadcast from the International Memorial in Moscow with the XXIV International Conference "Big Bath Readings". Theme of this year: "Strategies of cultural resistance and autonomization in closed societies."

The conference will take part: Konstantin A. Bogdanov, Katherine Gizan, Hans Ulrich Gumbrecht, Andrey Zorin, Ilya Kalinin, Kirill Korchagin, Alexei Levinson, Elena Marasinova, Kevin M.F. Platt, Mara Half Khgovski Ezkurra, Natalya Skradol, Nikolai Ssorin-Tchaikov, Victoria Frede and Alexei Yurchak.

XXIV Bath readings are devoted to the problem of the formation of secular culture in traditionalist, authoritarian, self -isolationist modern societies: strategies for survival, resistance, adaptation and creating conditions for personal and social autonomy from state dictates.

These strategies may include:

• philosophical, religious, political, artistic ideas and concepts
• Institutional construction
• Personal and corporate relations
• group and individual identification
• value and personal strategies of individual representatives of social groups
• Everyday and behavioral practices, ways and lifestyle, etc.

The conference also raises the question of how such strategies were effective in the conditions of authoritarian systems and how suitable for the formation of a posttotalitarian society.
